📚 Overview
Systematic Theology addresses fundamental questions of the Christian faith, divided into doctrinal topics such as:
-
Theology Proper – study of God (His attributes, Trinity, works).
-
Christology – study of Jesus Christ (nature, incarnation, atoning work).
-
Pneumatology – study of the Holy Spirit.
-
Anthropology – study of the human being (creation, sin).
-
Hamartiology – study of sin.
-
Soteriology – study of salvation (grace, justification, regeneration).
-
Ecclesiology – study of the Church (nature, ministries, sacraments).
-
Eschatology – study of last things (Second Coming, final judgment, heaven and hell).
-
📘 Theontological Theology
Focuses on questions such as:
-
What is the being of God?
-
How does God exist?
-
What are God’s essential attributes?
-
What is the relationship between God and being in general (ontology)?
This area is more philosophical and metaphysical compared to systematic theology. -
📘 Christology
Examines biblical revelation about Jesus from Old Testament types and prophecies to New Testament texts and historic church definitions of faith in Christ.
📘 Pneumatology
Investigates who the Holy Spirit is, whether He is divine Person or force, how He works in believers and the world, and His relationship to the Trinity.
📘 Ecclesiology
Addresses fundamental questions: What is the Church? Who belongs to it? What is its purpose? How should it be organized and led?
📘 Soteriology
Explores why humanity needs salvation, how God saves, Christ’s role, the relationship between grace, faith, and works, and the possibility of losing salvation.
📘 Theology of Creation
Asks: Who created the universe and why? What is creation’s purpose? What place do humans have? How does creation reflect God’s character?
📘 Theology of Revelation
Looks into how God reveals Himself, natural vs. special revelation, and the Bible’s role as divine revelation.
📖 Hermeneutics
The science and art of interpreting texts, especially biblical. It provides principles to read Scripture correctly within historical, cultural, linguistic, and literary contexts.
📘 Exegesis
From Greek “exēgēsis,” meaning explanation. It is the technical application of hermeneutical principles to a specific biblical text to discover its original meaning without imposing ideas.
